When we started in 2007 with a simple idea, it was not foreseeable that today this large number of employees at international locations are working on the development of our successful EHSQ & ESG software. Who we are?
Our Software Development department consists of multiple cross-functional teams with specialists in various areas, such as Site Reliability Engineering, Software Architecture and Mobile Development.
The majority of our team members come from the Berlin region, with some working from home elsewhere. But no matter whether you work at home or in the office: We have a place for you!
Our headquarters is located in the lively district of Friedrichshain in Berlin, near the Ostkreuz S-Bahn station. The Quentic offices are spacious, but you won’t find an open-plan office atmosphere with us. Alongside various high-tech meeting spaces, we also have a top-floor fun space, which can be used for cooking, eating together and other (after-work) activities.
We support cross-departmental and cross-company collaboration and support employee initiatives such as meetups and Lunch-Roulette to help colleagues from different departments or countries get to know one another.

Our goal is to develop our EHSQ software solution to meet the needs of our customers, placing special value on quality and reliability. We can only ensure seamless functionality from the Quentic Core to each individual module when all the gears mesh together. The Software Development team analyzes, plans, develops, and implements everything in the software. This is why we are divided up into Scrum teams that work cross-functionally.
We don’t just work to challenge our competitors; we work according to agile principles and values. And we live by the values defined in our Code of Inspiration: Ongoing improvement is only possible through learning. Of course, we’re not perfect, but we have fun learning and growing together as a team and also continuously driving our software forward. We in the software development department have been working agilely according to Scrum for years. Together as a company, we are also striving to remain as dynamic and flexible as we were in our start-up days, despite our growth. That is why we are continuously working on an open feedback culture in which the focus is placed on future progression. Whether in our regular face-to-face Career Talks, reviews or retros, we reflect on the past in order to become even better in the future.

Yes, we have very friendly colleagues who are responsible for the manual and automated testing of our software and app.
The manual testers are an important part of the project teams and are integrated into them.

Every employee has the opportunity to participate in internal or external training, for which we provide a budget. These can be individual or group training sessions.

Particularly important to us is open communication at eye level, the willingness to proactively contribute to the team and to develop together.
The way individual teams work is characterized by collaboration and pair- or mob-programming is explicitly desired and welcome.

Take one of our teams:
It consists of 5-6 Developers, 1 Software Tester (QA), 1 Product Owner and 1 Scrum Master. Our Scrum process includes the following points of our 2-week sprints:
- weekly refinement
- daily stand ups
- at the beginning of each sprint is a planning, which is followed by prioritization
- now each developer grabs a story and works on it on their development environment in a feature branch
- when the developer is done, i.e. our Definition of Done has been met, the story on the storyboard is moved to the status review pool
- the next step is a code review
- in addition, our build pipeline already runs automated tests, including e.g. static code analysis, code style checks and of course unit and integration tests
- after the code review the story is pushed into the QA pool
- at the end of the sprint a review by our stakeholders takes place, i.e. we present relevant stories to the management and department heads
In order to regularly optimize the work in the team, we conduct a retrospective with our Scrum Master at the end of each sprint.

We do back end development with PHP and Symfony. For front end, we use JavaScript, TypeScript and React.

We currently use Postman, PHPUnit and Playwright.

Currently most of us work on a laptop with Windows 10.
BUT
If you prefer, you can also roll out a Linux environment via Docker.
We are evaluating new possibilities, e.g. Linux or Mac.
Our success story
The beginning
We pushed our ideas forward with our first full-time employee. Every line of code was and is written with passion.
Our first release
Our first release brought four new modules to our “EcoWebDesk” software, with another added at the end of 2009.
Coding, coding, coding
More than 5 developers are now responsible for our new code.
Our first office
We moved into our first official company rooms on Friedenstraße in Friedrichshain, Berlin.
More people – more space
We moved and established our headquarters on Schreiberhauer Straße, affectionately called SH30.
Founding new teams
Just under eight years after our initial founding, we have experienced strong growth in numbers and now organize our developers into three unique teams.
Agile from now on
We introduce Scrum, and from now on this is our method for further product development.
App release
We proudly present the first version of our mobile app to our customers and are met with great success.
Professional Testing & more mobile
With two new colleagues, we lay the foundation for our Quality Assurance team and welcome our new colleagues from the Mobile Development department of "NordSafety" in Finland.
More space for smart brains
Due to a lack of available space in a new expansion, the Software Development department moves to a new building in Rigaer Straße in Berlin’s Friedrichshain neighborhood.
Bye bye EcoIntense - Hello Quentic
Our rebrand is official. Our software is known as Quentic from now on and we all become Quentics.
New headquarters at Gürtelstraße in Berlin
Our growth continues and COVID-19 causes us to move all onboarding and work activities to home office mode. But Quentic is well prepared, and the switch goes smoothly due to fantastic technical groundwork we laid and excellent collaboration overall.
Growing, growing, growing
Our Software Development team comprises around 80 members today, which continues to work together amazingly despite the challenges suddenly presented to us by Corona. The release of Quentic 13.0 is a new milestone.
